Cantors Juval Porat, Lisa Segal, and Joseph Flaxman, accompanied by a talented quartet of singers and Alan Caves on piano and organ will aim to honor the rich musical heritage of Jewish composers from Germany, both before and after World War II. As a centerpiece of the program, the cantors and musicians will perform works by esteemed composers such as Louis Lewandowski, Kurt Weill, and Arnold Schoenberg. These pieces will reflect the deep connection between Jewish liturgical music and the broader cultural landscape of Germany in the early 20th century, as well as provide context and insight into the lives and work of these important composers. Audience members will come away with a deeper appreciation for the significant contributions of Jewish German composers to the world of music.
